Introduction This Field Service Kit provides a complete portable static safe workstation for personnel working with electronics in the field. By properly using a field service kit, you can assure that field installations and repairs will not fail due to static damage of components during installation. Proper static control procedures will reduce the occurrence of No - Trouble - Found (NTF) calls. Instructions 1. Remove parts from plastic bags and lay the mat flat with the pockets facing up. 2. Place the wristband on wrist. Pull the band snug and close the cam-lock. 3. Snap the coil cord to the wristband. 4. Snap the common ground cord to the mat. 5. Plug the coil cord into the common ground cord. 6. De-energize (power down) equipment under repair. 7. Connect the common ground cord clip to ground. Note: Metal equipment frames, metal electrical conduits, and green wire building ground may provide acceptable ground points. |

Guidelines for ESD Prevention
When finished with the field service kit, place the strap and cords into a pocket and fold the kit around the pocket.
Always place electronic parts on the grounded mat. (not on equipment, carpet, or packaging)
Keep all spares (even damaged parts) in static shield bags.
Keep static accumulators like plastic, styrofoam cups, and synthetic clothing away from electronic parts.
WARNING: Power down equipment under repair before beginning work. Hazardous voltage may exist inside equipment. Do no use near voltages greater than 250 volts.
